Seoul, December 8, 2023 - Seoul National University Hospital's Urology Department, a team led by Professor Cho Sung Yong, has incorporated the single-use ureteroscope, URUS™, into their kidney stone treatment procedures. This marks the first use of the device in a patient, presenting potential advancements in kidney stone management.

URUS™ introduces a notable feature – the '6 o'clock working channel,' which the team at Seoul National University Hospital believes can offer advantages, particularly in the treatment of lower pole kidney stones and bilateral kidney stone cases.

The '6 o'clock working channel' aims to simplify the challenges associated with lower pole kidney stones by enhancing accessibility. This feature is expected to facilitate a more precise approach to treatment, potentially reducing procedural complexities.

Additionally, the URUS™ ureteroscope's adaptability for bilateral kidney stone treatment is noted as a potential asset. The device's design allows for smoother navigation through both kidneys, which could streamline the process for patients requiring intervention in multiple locations.
