Exclusive Supply in Korea… Efficient Stone Removal via Suction Function, Reduced Recurrence Rate

ClearPetra is the original device in the FANS (Flexible and Navigable Suction ureteral access sheath) category, designed for suction-assisted flexible ureteroscopy. Holding numerous global patents for its technology, ClearPetra has led innovation in the field of urinary stone treatment worldwide.
Wellead Medical, established in 1998, is a global medical device company with a strong presence in urological and renal treatment devices. Among its products, ClearPetra is widely used internationally and has been under consideration for introduction to Korea for some time. Dyne Medical Group has now been officially selected as its exclusive distribution partner in Korea.
While similar FANS products have recently entered the Korean market, ClearPetra is the world’s first commercially available device of its kind. Its safety and innovative features have been demonstrated in dozens of international studies, including the highly regarded step-by-step procedural guide on FANS published by Professor Olivier Traxer of Sorbonne University Medical School in France.
The study was published to promote the clinical utility of the FANS technique, highlighting its recognition as a global standard surgical method. This extensive clinical evidence also raises expectations for future product development and technological advancements.
ClearPetra features a suction-enabled design that allows stone fragmentation and removal simultaneously, offering a clear advantage over the traditional basket retrieval method. Unlike conventional techniques that require stones to be repeatedly collected and removed in small pieces, ClearPetra uses suction to remove stones quickly and efficiently, resulting in a higher stone-free rate (SFR).
This not only enhances procedural efficiency but also significantly reduces the recurrence rate of stones. Renal stones have a 30–50% recurrence rate within five years, and complete removal of residual stones is key to minimizing this risk. Shorter operation times also accelerate patient recovery, thereby improving overall treatment satisfaction.
Dyne Medical Group also emphasized the synergy with its own product, URUS, Korea’s first disposable flexible ureteroscope. URUS, known for its flexible maneuverability and robust durability, is highly compatible with ClearPetra and enables precise endoscopic control. When used together, the two devices are expected to significantly enhance surgical stability and accuracy.
With the introduction of ClearPetra, Dyne Medical Group is expanding its specialized portfolio by delivering globally proven advanced technologies to the domestic market, moving beyond simple import and distribution.
Having simultaneously strengthened in-house product development and global partnerships, Dyne Medical Group will continue to offer solutions that provide real clinical value for both healthcare professionals and patients.
Nam Seongchan, Vice President of Dyne Medical Group, stated, “ClearPetra is the original FANS-based surgical device and has become a global standard. Through this exclusive partnership, we aim to provide Korean medical professionals with better surgical options and make a meaningful contribution to improving patients’ quality of life.”
